II Chronicles 7:14 - If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Doctors have been writing a lot of prescriptions here lately for a lot of people who have been sick with the flu and pneumonia. They examine their patient and then they prescribe the medicine they feel is necessary for recovery. If a patient expects to get well, they need to do what the doctor prescribes. America is sick. Our nation needs to return to God; that means first of all repentance and revival in the church. We all have a lot of pressing needs; among them is money, physical health, safety and protection and relations with other people. But I believe that our greatest need is a Spiritual need. God gives us a prescription in his Word that will heal our nation and bring us a great revival.

When God says, If my people which are called by my name, his word applies to us Christians who bear the name of Christ. A revival is Gods people getting right with God and each other. Whether there is a revival or not depends on what they do. It hangs on that little word If. Revivals dont happen accidentally or just because we hoped they would. They happen when we meet certain conditions; just as a farmer has to meet certain conditions to raise a crop.

First of all, we are to humble ourselves before God and get rid of our pride. Second, we are to pray; prayer is communion with God. Third, we are to seek his face; seeking his face means seeking his approval, his smile, his favor and the light of his countenance. Fourth, and lastly, Gods people are to turn from their wicked ways; that means praying through over our selfishness and unconcern.

Then, the Bible says that God will hear from Heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. When we do our part, then , we can be sure that God will do his part. If all the sleeping folks will wake up , and all the disgruntled folks will make up, and all the non-praying folks will pray up, and all the non-tithers will pay up and all the gossipers will shut up, then we will have an old-fashioned Holy Ghost revival.
